3D-Printed Restorations
Optimizing Surface Finishing for Exceptional Esthetics

Additive manufacturing is transforming restorative dentistry by enabling the precise and efficient production of highly esthetic restorations. Among these innovations, 3D-printed restorations represent a promising approach to dental rehabilitation, combining efficient fabrication with natural-looking esthetic outcomes.

Achieving outstanding esthetics, however, depends not only on the printing process itself but also on the quality of the surface finishing. A refined surface enhances gloss, improves esthetic integration, and supports long-term performance.

The laboratory and chairside finishing systems developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. med. dent. Gülce Çakmak (JOTA Swiss) provide a streamlined workflow for the controlled finishing and polishing of 3D-printed restorations. Designed to optimize surface quality and achieve a high-gloss finish, these solutions help dental professionals deliver predictable, efficient, and esthetically superior outcomes.

Whether in the lab or right in the dental office, the JOTA Finishing & Polishing System helps dentists and dental technicians create restorations that combine efficiency, function, and outstanding aesthetics.

From the initial finishing to the final high-gloss polishing, every step is designed to enhance the quality and appearance of 3D-printed restorations

Associate Professor Dr. med. dent. Gülce Çakmak, DDS, PhD is the Head of the Laboratory for Digital Dental Technology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany, and a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bern, Switzerland. She specializes in digital workflows, artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, and biomaterials for implant dentistry and prosthodontics.
